Keith Matthew
President of the Community Futures Development Corporation of Central Interior First Nations
I am helping Laurent Goldstein with his feature film and he has asked me to be a consultant in terms of providing advice to himself and others around Indigenous knowledge that will be included in the film.
I currently live on my reserve and have lived here most of my life. In the past I have chaired Secwepemc Cultural Education Society whose role was to rebuild Secwepemc language, history and culture. In my role I was incredibly fortunate to work with elders from across the Secwepemc Nation and across Canada as the chair of a national organization tasked with rebuilding our language, history and culture as First Nations in Canada.
I am well versed in traditions and culture as a Secwepemc person having practised my culture by going to various ceremonies including sweatlodges, pipe ceremonies and youwipis. I am including a backgrounder about my professional experience as well. I was on my community chief and council for ten years and served as a councillor then chief of our community.
